i want my next project to be a multi williams. im looking around for boards, and was wondering what a good one would be. i really like the 19-1 that's on jammaboards, but i really want one with sinistar. what are my options?

You want jrok's MultiWilliams board. I have two and they are amazing (and well-priced at $165).

The original thread on KLOV (best bet is to PM jrok there as I don't think these are listed on his site):

Totally agree'd. I played Robotron and Joust on the original hardware the other day and there is absolutely no difference between Jrok's board and the original hardware.
That is because it doesn't use emulation like the 19 in 1 does.
And it has Sinistar, but remember, that's the only vertical game on the board !

I geuss the only way to get the board is through jrok himself right?
-
Yep.

Just noticed that jrok has a F/S thread going on KLOV and bumped it today indicating he has more boards ready:

i forgot that sinistar was a vertical game. i geuss it would be sideways on a horizontal set up right?

Thanks. I just emailed him for one.

Yeah -- it's not bad sideways, but if you are a Sinistar fan, you may want to incorporate a 49-way stick on your panel (and it needs to be a 3rd stick) -- it's pretty tough with an 8-way.

Just ordered mine. It's in no small part due to Cheffo's raves about it (not just this thread, but last time I talked to him).
I just can't see myself trying to not only wire up everything to support the original hardware, but also diagnosing this Robotron board set I have which is "untested". I figured, skip the nightmare.... get a working game for once!

That was the point I was at with my Joust cocktail -- had an intermittent video issue when I got it, so I fixed that, then I had power problems and fixed those, then I had sound problems that I never managed to get completely resolved no matter what I did, including swapping in good ROM and sound boards. The harness had been hacked apart in a conversion, then hacked back together in the restoration and I was sure that there were problems there.
I decided that I wanted Joust to work more than I wanted to fix it, so I bought an extra board and rewired it JAMMA. If I ever want to sell it (not bloody likely given what it has cost me so far), I'll throw in the original boards, PS and harness so that some other poor fool can spend their time fiddling with them.
I have lots of games to fix ... but some of them I just want to play!

I have one of JROK's boards and it's just simply awesome. I play it almost daily. Sinistar is a ---smurfette--- with a 49-way...it's nearly impossible with an 8-way. 2nd level is about the best you'll get with an 8-way. I ALMOST incorporated a 49-way in to my panel, but I ended up deciding against it.
