I realize that not every game ends, and some will go forever at just higher and higher speed, but I'm talking about those that either ended (lets say by displaying final credits) or those that would start over after certain amount of levels. Also you must've completed it on one credit. I'm especially interested in shootem ups. Some seem immposible to complete by a human being, like Mars Matrix.
Anyway, I was able to finish only one video arcade game, which was Knuckle Joe (It would just start from 1st level)
I also just finished Aqua Rush on Mame, but I don't think that should count. One, it was very easy, 2 It's only Japanese, 3 Who knows what would I encounter in arcade enviroment.
-

...I've never tried without bitting...Ask Mr. Owl...
-
There was this boxing game that had two handles as controllers and they were your gloves in the game, you would push them forward to punch and back to block.
beat that game with one credit. it was actually really easy. Just pick the big bald guy and hammer away.
-
I beat narc, tmnt, the simpsons, umk3, mk1, mk2, 1942 plus, die hard arcade, battletoads, and the punisher. There are more but thats all i can think of.
-
I either really suck, or I am more the typical case... I have never beaten an arcade game in the arcades, esp not on one credit. The excuse I am making up right now (and will stick with) is that I would play a game for a few coins, then move on. I never just stuck with one game.
-
If it wasnt for mame I would not have beaten these Simpons, Golden axe & xmen
-
i beat every enemy on tekken 3 on the 'hard' setting. that count?
-
well, as far as beating the actual arcade games in a cab, there aren't too many.
Guilty Gear XX ^core, Project Justice, Time Crisis III, and TMNT.
What i really want to be able to do though is get through a metal slug in one credit.
I saw a video of some guy doing that with metal slug 3 and it just blew my mind.
-
Street Fighter 2, Samurai Shodown, Samurai Shodown 2, Tekken 2, Tekken 3, and Mortal Kombat
-
Most of the ones i listed i just played on my mame cabinet. The only one i acually beat at arcades is die hard. But that took so many coins to do it wasnt even worth it :dunno
-
Shinobi, without shooting, only sword, except boss levels. One time my nickname was Shinobi ;D
Robocap
Golden Axe
E-swat
Probably more, but I forgot
-
If it has a "continue" feature and it came out prior to 1994, I probably finished it.
I think it cost something like $20 to finish Smash TV. ;D
-
Ikari Warriors on a cocktail. It took quite a few quarters, but they were Canadian, so it probably worked out to $10 ;D
Oh, and I had a partner working with me...
-
beat 720 a few times on one credit. I think it all depends on the various dip-switch settings at different arcades. Although mame has let me beat a few that I wouldn't be able to complete with being able to hit the continue button a few dozen times.
-
Guys, I'm asking one credit, arcade settings scenario.
If you completed a game by continously feeding the machine, I don't think that's much of an achievement.
If you completed a game on 1 credit in MAME, that's fine too, just mention that was the case.
And I think completing Tekken 1,2,3 on just one credit does count in my books. On PS1 I was able to get to the last boss on one credit, but he always kicked ---my bottom---, and I had to use continue in order to unlock rest of the characters. So I can't say that I was able to complete Tekken3 on one credit on PS1, never the less the real video arcade.
-
Champion Wrestler. 1 credit in the arcade with Decker and with Jimmy. The reason I built my cabinet was to relive this game. All about what you had access to I guess..
-
Xevious is the only game that I ever beat (all 16 stages). When I was 17 there was a Xevious in the bowling alley across the road from trade-school - I spent all of my lunchtimes and study periods over there honing my arcade skills on that machine. Xevious and the school library's Apple IIe were the main reason that I flunked my Electronics Certificate that year. Being dumb didn't help! :dizzy:

deja vu. that's not a game i've beaten, just a feeling i get with this topic ;D

You're kind of right. I see now that the other topic is fairly recent. Have I noticed it I probably wouldn't make this one, but instead I would throw in my question. I usually look at the board every day, but never have noticed the other topic. But as Ummon noticed, my topic is slightly different. On the other hand I can totally see how they could be merged.

Outrun, Pole Position/2, Buggy Boy, GTMR.
Edit: not all the courses on Pole Pos 2/Buggy Boy though.
-
Oh, one credit.
Shinobi.
-
One credit: Ghosts 'n Goblins, Shinobi
Prob more than 1 : Double Dragon, Golden Axe
I'm sure there were others, just can't remember at the moment (this was 20 years ago(or more)).
Damn, i feel old.
-
Sunset Riders is the only one I've finished in the arcade with one credit. It was a 2 player cab and I had just enough random people with slow reflexes joining in that I had human shields when the bullets were flying. So while it only cost me a quarter...others were not so fortunate.
-
Wrestlefest
Police Trainer
Sharpshooter (first time I ever played it too)
MK4 (1st revision brand new in the arcade. I don't think the boss character was even in there yet)
MK3
Marvel Super Heroes (Maybe? It was one in that series that you tagged in/out)
I think that is all that I have beat on 1 credit

Oh, so you were once of those --bags of cream-filled twinkies-- who sat back and let the OTHER people fight the bosses huh? I couldn't stand people who did that, especially on games like Simpsons and Xmen that had people lining up quarters in a crowded arcade.
-
Oh, hardly. But if you don't lose any lives on the regular levels and you kill lots of bad guys along the way, you'll have a few spare men to lose on each boss. Well, the later bosses. The first few aren't so bad.
-
Outrun, Pole Position/2, Buggy Boy, GTMR.

MM, I hadn't thought of PP. I've finished that one, four laps even....although, I don't think that's very hard. And that's the only one that comes to mind that I've ever really finished.
-

Each of these games on a single credit?
same for mj147. Double Dragon on 1 credit?

On a good day yes I could. Well obviously except TMNT I think its IMPOSSIBLE to beat it on 1 credit with defualt lives...Fighters are A LOT easier IMO so beating them on 1 credit is very feasible.

Im referring to the Double Dragon by Taito not the neo geo one.

Heck its one of, if not the first arcade game I finished. Just elbow your way through , almost too easy :)

The only arcade game I've ever beaten was Metal Slug 3. One of the main reasons I'm building a MAME is to play Metal Slug 3 again.
-
Just for good measure I fired Double dragon in mame, I knew i would be rusty since I havent really played it to beat it in a few years........ Got to the lair area with the first guy...and finished the game on my 3rd guy. :applaud:
Guess I still got it. ;D

The only games I was ever good enough to complete on one credit was Street fighter II (back in the day, not now) and Double Dragon (which I think I can still do, probably).
Not counting the one credit rule, I finished a ton of games, most recently, Super Pang.
-
1cc (one credit completion) is not equal to "beating a game", or at least it wasn't in any arcade I've been to.
Seeing the credits/Congrats screen = beating a game.
I've beaten a hundred arcade games or so. Mostly fighting games, beat'em ups, and shmups.
I've 1cc'ed a handful of fighting games,
SF2
SF2CE
SF2T
SSF2
SSF2T
SFA
SFA2
SFA3
COTA
MSH
XVS
MVS
MVC
MVC2
KOF 98
KOF 2002
KOF 2003
Tekken
T2
T3
TTT
T4
T5
VF
VF2
VF3
VF4
VF5
Soul Edge
Soul Calibur

Maybe I am just tired, but am I missing something here? What exactly is a "One credit completion"? Do you mean using one credit to end up back at the beginning again and/or repeating old enemies you already defeated in a "never ending" and/or "kill screen" game? Or maybe hitting high score, or even a roll over?
:dizzy:
-
lol, it means putting in a quarter and playing till the game won't let you play anymore.
Most "modern" games aren't like the old ones and have a preset number of stages that you can complete before you see an ending and a game over screen.
-
Ok, that's what I thought. Basically, playing until killscreen then? (ALA level 255 in puckman/pacman)
-
Heck its one of, if not the first arcade game I finished. Just elbow your way through , almost too easy :)
Yeah, that's the most powerful move in that game. DDII, not so much.

As I said before anyone can finish a game with a bag of money, but imagine gun to your head, 1 (one) quarter/coin in your hand and choice of one arcade machine and you will be spared if you finish it.
By finish I understand:
rolling the score,
seeing congratulatory credits rolling
and seeing all the levels and starting from level 1 again
Which arcade games could you pick and win?
BTW I recall completing 1 more game: 99 the last war! It's not very hard since I was able to finish it without the shield. Game was in a cabinet where there was only one button for fire and no shield whatsoever!
-
Shinobi
Robocop
Xain'D Sleena
Wonder Boy
Wonder Boy in Monster Land
Black Dragon
Midnight Resistance
Karnov
Time Crisis
Time Crisis 2
Point Blanc (on Insane mode)
Police Trainer
Double Dragon
That's all I can remember. Mostly platformers, but a few lasergun games.

Ok OK. Now I get it. It was a semantic thing I wasn't getting. The original poster meant "beating the game in one credit", you differentiated the concept into "beating the game (x # credits)" and "1 credit completion". That is what confused me. So your "1 credit completion" = the original posters "Which arcade games have you completed (in one credit)" intent.
Sadly, I have not really done that well in the one credit beating category. Although, I bet I COULD beat gradius (NES version anyways) in one credit without dying (only because I played the damnthing so many times). If NES games were to also be added in full: Ducktales comes to mind as a game I never even got hit once before completion, let alone dying. But that is NES games, not arcade games... (although it would be nice to get a few props for completing ducktales without a single hit, as that paricular objective isnt as easy as it sounds)
(Edit: forgot you were the original poster, mimic ;) )
-
Yeah, 1cc is the standard term for what is being discussed here. You'll see it used all over message boards dedicated to various genre's of arcade games, particularly the shmups* crowd.
*shmup = shoot'em up. Galaga, Gradius, 1942, Ikaruga, etc.
-
Actually, 1942 and such I consider vertical scrollers, and 'stationary' ones vertical shooters - they're all 'shooters'. Never shmup, cos that sounds like a rom kiddie name from the 90s. Of course, I rarely abbreviate, etc, things.
-
Of course, I rarely abbreviate, etc, things.
LOL That was funny. Intentional?
-
That was a rare case. It is a legitimate abbreviation, though, and has existed decades before net speak and whatever related felgarcarb.
Also, it came to mind that there's the 'perfect game'. Who's done that?
-

I've gotten many "perfect games" in World Class Bowling. ;D
The only games I've completed are Rampart and Maniac Square in MAME.
