Title: Quick Sega Blast City Question
Post by: TrAb on June 13, 2009, 11:43:02 am
Hey guys i picked up a blast city cabinet the other day and im currently repainting/restoring it. Had a quick question about the control panel. When i got the cabinet it had a metal brace that ran down the middle of the cabinet between the doors and helped lock the coin door shut and also support the control panel. I guess so nobody would be able to steal any money. Anyways i removed it because it made playing close to the cabinet uncomfortable, but after i reinstalled the control panel i noticed when i put pressure on it that it doesnt feel as stable as i think it should
(at least for a arcade enviroment). Just wondering if the blast city's had some other support for the bottom of he control panel, because the brace i removed is not in any pictures that i can find on the internet. So i know its not common and thought there must be some other way they normally strengthened the bottom of the control panel. Thanks guys

The extra support brace you removed was only meant for the Sega Bass Fishing control panel I think. How many screws do you currently have holding up the panel? Mine has 8 and it feels very solid after removing the braces. Most other candy cabs don't have an extra support brace like Bass Fishing did so I think it'll be fine in an arcade environment as long as no one tries to sit on it!
