Title: Suit measurements
Post by: shmokes on June 10, 2009, 11:36:19 pm
I'm a small guy.  5'6", 135 Lbs.  My suit size is 36 short, but not many labels carry that size.  Calvin Klein is one of the few.  So if I decide to compromise cos I want another brand suit do you think I'm better off going 36 regular or 38 short?  My guess is 38 short because a suit can easily be taken in around the chest, but it can't really have length taken off of it.  But I worry that the sleeves will be too long on a 38 and I will lose buttons in order to make them short enough.  Any of you guys wear enough suits to be able to give me good advise on the subject?

If you are under 30 get a larger waistline.

If you are over 30 get an even larger waistline.

Talk to a tailor ... really.

Different suits are going to be cut differently, so the "stock" answer that you are looking for is not going to be the best answer for you and your suit choice.

I used to wear a ton of suits but am thankfully now down to two suits in the closet which get worn 2-4 times each year.

I hate talking to my tailor.  His accent is so thick I can barely understand him.   ;D

If you hate talking to your tailor about suit measurements than you'd better find yourself a new tailor.   :dizzy:

His tailor is too busy to talk...
First they go up one side, they move it over, they go up the other side, they move it back, and then they do the rear.

At 5-6 135 does Calvin Klein even make suits for 12 year olds?   ;D

If it works for Barney, it can work for you!

According to the stats, you are shorter and thinner than Barney Fife too.  ::snicker::

I quit eating January 6th, 2008.  What's your excuse?

 ;)

If that's the case then how come you're still 15lbs overweight? Actually, come to think of it, how come you're not dead?

I don't know.  God doesn't love me?  I not sure a person needs and excuse for his height.

p.s. that's a strange excuse for being fat.   ;D
