I doubt anyone is actually watching Jimmy Fallon Late night (including me), so here is what his current gimmick is: He is trying to reunite the cast of Saved by the Bell. Even if he personally sucks and has no on camera presence, the idea is still AWESOME!!
Last night, Mark Paul Gosselar showed up on the show, but in a special hilarious way. And if you were curious, Jimmy Fallon is truly awful as a host. Zach - er - Mark even knocks him for it.

Our generation's Brady Bunch. A show that nobody watched when it was on (here it was on alongside candlepin bowling) but somehow more than a decade later won't go away. Hope those folks are getting paid for the reruns.
-
I watched it when it aired. Other than a few classic episodes (Jessie's drug problem!), it's not something I can rewatch now. I look forward to seeing what they can do with a reunion on there, though.
Currently watching Square Pegs on DVD ;D

Hell, I vividly remember the prime time unveiling special for the new Saturday morning cartoons. Mr. miyagi led the Saved by the Bell Kids (one of the new shows) through some dungeon area where they encountered the new shows. Then a preview of the show would air. Why Mr. Miyagi? Because Karate Kid was one of the new cartoons.
-
I only sorta remember it even existing at the time. I know it better from people talking about it in recent years than I do from when it was actually on. I was usually outside not long after the sun was up at that age - either by choice or from my grandmother shooing me outdoors.

Dunno, I watched it for Tiffani-Amber Thiessen.

I had a friend who's grandparents were like that. I felt sorry for him. They didn't even let him in to eat or drink - they would hand him stuff at the door.
Summer saturdays: Wake up and watch cartoons (and Saved by the Bell), go to pool rest of day, play on friend's trampoline until dark after pool, play spotlight until 10:30. Party all night either at or hosting a sleepover - popcorn, movies, and video games.

Oh, I came in for meals, it wasn't quite like that. I had more fun fishing and running around than I would have had watching TV. Sometimes a kid just needs to be pushed out the door to get to it. I do half the same with my kids. They play video games until about 9-9:30 and then they're dressed and in the yard.
jim, seeing as how any kid I knew grewing up was outside, few kids where I lived, in MA, NH, or NS was watching Saved by the Bell or anything else. What little I do remember of it was that it was on sometime around 11-12 in the northeast. Can't even say for sure it was ever on in NS now that I think about it.

I watched that when it first aired. Funny that you're watching it. :D
Never saw Saved by the Bell though. I know all of the Brady Bunch episodes though. Funny what a few years difference will make.

I watched it some back then, but I'd forgotten most of it.

Fallon is god awful to watch.
...that is all.

You never know, he might be like a double agent actor. Maybe he is just acting like being a bad actor/comedian who is in turn trying real hard to be a good actor/comedian. Gosselaar was spot on, but Fallon was just...worse than the worst bad. You never know though, his whole career might just be a big Andy Kaufman like gag.
...okay so that's probably stretching it a bit - he sucks.
-
Andy Kaufman's gig wasn't to be bad - it was to antagonize people. That's very different from plain sucking. Fallon just plain sucks. He sucked on SNL, too.

I watched it for lark voorhees. she was/is hot

I put that right up there with Van Damme's drunken disco from Kickboxer.

I never watched Save by the Bell... was all that Jesus stuff in the show too?
-
I have no clue what was up with the bible verse at the end. Disregard it.
-
I couldn't stand those types of shows back then. Still can't.
I can't believe anyone actually liked that stuff.

This was LATE 80s. Square Pegs was '82. A difference in why one was cool and one was not, is the mid-to-late 80s was the victim of Pro-parenting groups and PC.

I was in high school when that show aired, but thought it was cheesy as hell... at first. Then I started watching it late in its run and enjoyed it even. I always thought it was odd how the show was focused on the teacher with the english accent, then in the 2nd season it was an ensemble cast of cool multi-ethnic kids.
Hey, did anyone watch Hang Time? It followed a similar formula to Saved by the Bell, but the wacky characters were basketball players on the high school basketball team. It had Anthony Anderson pre Law & Order. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hang_Time_(TV_series)
I guess it's not retro enough yet lol.

That's because she was Haley Mills, the only real celeb on the show.

Saved by the Bell was a pre-Disney channel show, it was good for who it was written for.
It’s no better or worse than iCarley/Hana Montana/Sweet Life of…/and all those other shows.
It was a HS based show geared for pre-HS kids.
You know how I know you're g@y?
You were in HS watching Saved by the Bell.

It's plausible that some guys watched for the hot chicks.
-
Pac-man Fever episode of Square Pegs (if this works....if not, just go to Hulu.com)

Yeah, the same type of guys who are now watching iCarly and Hanna Montana for the hot chicks.(g@y guys)
Saved by the bell was competing with 90210, the straight guys who would put up with SBtB for the hot chicks would have been watching 90210, where at least the chicks weren’t always wearing sweaters.
I remember when SBtB was beginning to drop in the ratings and Zack started dissing the hairlines of the guys on 90210 hoping to win back those fans who were hitting puberty.

90210 was a 60 minute prime time soap and SBtB was a 30 minute saturday morning puff show. About the only thing they had in common was an actress who spent her SbTB time acting all pure and her 90210 time banging anyone with money and threatening to jump off cliffs.
(yes, 90210 I do know, because my wife still watches it a lot)
-
90210 and SBtB shared two actresses.
-
The other was a bit player... doesn't really count. ;D

Who was the other?

Arguing about 90210.
Classic!
-
Who was the other?
Tori Spelling, who I found out only appeared in three episodes. Seemed like more. She played Screech's girlfriend.

Thanks Ummon. I couldn't think of a way to post it where it didn't embed it.
