Title: Circumluminator Anyone?
Post by: pinballwizard79 on June 09, 2009, 01:41:14 am
This seems cool: http://www.nuvolux.com/

From my limited research I am under the impression the device is illuminated via neon tubing encased in Lexan. I read the first generation models had a handful crack so now the Lexan is several times thicker & now has a perfect track record.

The entire color scheme, fonts, wording & etc are fully customizable. Its a single wire to fish behind the wall, casts zero shadows & seems to be one of those WTF items that I just have to have.

Anyone have experience with one of these?

Wouldn't that thing end up with surface scratches all over it from dart strikes?  Also gotta make sure you're not that guy who walks in towards the board the second the dart leaves your hand - that thing is going to send a lot more rebounds right at the shooter.

I wasnt "that" worried about the scratches but the bounce backs did raise some concern.

Damn

The bouncebacks aren't dangerous if you're aware of them.  Even with a straight board you occasionally get one right off the bar and straight back at the shooter line.  You'll just get a lot more of them with a hard plastic border around the board.

I like to black out.

Throwing darts at bullet proof glass will turn bad after 18 blue moons I think.

Oh well, my JP's board went to the crapper & so did my 33" WG CRT arcade monitor so it looks like I get a flat screen & JP board instead for twice the price.

So I think a $40 spotlamp is in my safer non dart bouncing back future :-(

This is Enlightened, the inventor of The Circumluminator responding.

There's quite a bit of distance from the edge of the dartboard to the lamp housing. I have never known bounce-outs from darts striking the lamp housing to be a problem.

Until you have played with a board free of shadows cast by darts and glare from spotlights, it's hard to imagine what you're missing.

Well it looks like I have a new pick of dartboard when I get my gameroom going.   Seriously, that's pretty awesome.
