Here's the now completed Horrorshow Arcade cabinet. I built this in from the start, didn't want to restore any old cabinet for my first cabinet project.
In short, it is my first attempt on building a cabinet, which I decided to do after the idea of NES cabinet seemed too restrictive. Maximus Arcade front-end running all the emulators, but mainly it's for Mame. Check the project's site for more detailed info.

Nice Job!
Looks a little naked without a name on the marquee + no coin door/ kick plate graphics....
-
Coin door is something I will add later when I have some extra cash lying around.
The barren art is a chosen design aspect. I hate cabinets that are riddled with pictures and too much small art. I think it is better to go with big and simple. Less is more as they say :)

I totally agree! Nice job!!

Now that I start to improve the original cabinet, like adding the coin mechanism, is there any suggestions on what I should add. I have had a rather clear idea to keep it clean and mean, but now I'm taking good ideas on what to put in.

definitely needs some cup holders. ;D
just kidding.
seriously though. I think a coin door would probably be all you'd need to add. But thats just me.

very nice and tidy project.
May I ask how the glass and bezel are held in place? and how you got the back of the control panel to line up with the control panel box. I'm doing a very similar design to yours and am stumped on these.
Cheers

The glass is made of two layers of 2mm plexiglass. The bezel picture is between those layers and is held with sheer pressure and static electricity. The plexiglass itself is held with a small bar going around the open screen, but not in the bottom (see picture). On the bottom there is a wedge cut in the wood so that the plexi will have no place to move. After installing that, there is a very small triangle bars put on top of all the sides and nailed with very small nails to the sides.
For the panel there were few options on how to do it. I used a milling cutter to remove 2mm from the edges of the panel, so that the part not milled was exactly the part which went inside the box. You can see this milling in the wiring picture on the cabinet's website. So now it goes on it automatically without any problem. The locking mechanism of the panel is actually four small angle irons which are screwed in place. The ones in the front are cut inside the boxes front panel, and the ones in the back go behind the box. This also gives to panel no chance of moving or be in any other position than the one I want.

Aaah, ok, cheers. Yeah, I have something similar lined up, with the bottom piece holding the glass/plexi in place.
Just checking out your project website, don't know how I missed that link before, some great reading on there, thanks!

Good build, I like it... but how does the name related to a green/black cab?

It alone does not, but the whole artwork in the front-end and the skulls in the marquee relates to that.
-
Ha, I totally didn't see those as skulls in the marquee. I thought it was a random decorative shape.

That's odd. You are not the first person to say that. I though they were as clear as can be.

hey wow, now that you mention it... :)
When you work with a desgin over and over you get used to it.
I think the green/black theme on it's own can relate to "horrow show", but nice artwork too of course!
-
Ok, now I'm starting to wonder how many actually did see the skulls?
At least the control panel is full of them.
-
I wouldn't worry about it, I think it fits the theme even if you don't notice them
-
Wow, I didn't see the skulls either. I had to go back and look pretty hard.
Very interesting effect. Ultra subtle there. I like it.
