Title: my playstation 2 run on my mame cabinet possible?
Post by: tyweed on July 06, 2003, 03:24:33 pm
do you think it's possible to get my playstation 2 run through my tv in my cabinet to be hooked up through my cabinet ipac controller? i'm assuming since i have the ipac jumpers set to mame and i know of no converter to run ps2 through the keyboard i'll probably just need for the system to be emulated... just wanted your ideas.....+

maybe you could add some wire's to your existing quick connects so that they split off to your ipac and a set of hacked PS2 pads?... i haven't tried this myself so not sure if it will work at all

hope not too far off topic:  if I already have a vga monitor, and got a video card with tv tuner (tv in) could I hook a ps2 in to tv tuner on vid card and view in on the computer monitor?

...or would the whole thing just blow up?

thanks,

In short no.  You will need to isolate the ipac from the control panel via some sort of connector (molex or db25 or something).  You will then have to hack some PS pads to similar connector.  What you have left is a setup where you disconnect the ipac from the cp, and connect the PS pads, or vice versa.  You cannot have both hooked up at the same time.

What everybody seems to always forget in their descriptions is how to account for audio and video. Even switching between controls doen't account for this. It can be done, but it's a lot of trouble. (IMO)

Sure why not.  I'm not sure how great it will look though. You will have to follow the same advice I gave tyweed for isolating the CP from your ipac or hacked ps controllers.
