Hi folks.. I've just joined this supremely awesome site after deciding to finally build my own cab. I'm currently trying to decide on my control panel options, but I have too many games that I'd like to accomodate that use custom controls (I'm thinking Ikari Warriors her with the rotating joysticks).
However, my main question (and it may be fairly simple)... if I have a classic "2 player" cab configuration, one stick and say 6 buttons per player, does anyone know if its possible to play Karate Champ using "player 2" joystick as the main 2nd joystick?
Does that make any sense? If I'm playing 1P Karate Champ, can I use the 2nd joystick, or would I need to have 2 dedicated joysticks for one player?
Hope that makes some kind of sense... thanks in advance!
Cheers
Dave

There is a place in the TAB menu to setup the player one and two sticks for player one in dual-stick games.
Player 1 stick is LEFT, Player 2 stick is RIGHT
You will see LEFT/UP, LEFT/DOWN, LEFT/LEFT, LEFT/RIGHT -- these are player 1 stick first, and the direction you need to press second. Do the same for the player 2 stick (RIGHT/UP, RIGHT/DOWN, RIGHT/LEFT, RIGHT/RIGHT)

Brilliant.. cheers!

The big problem you'll have is that Karate Champ doesn't like 8-ways very well.
They cause the character to be pretty jerky at times.

Karate Champ is a great game. Played it all the time during my college years. I played it so long with a single quarter that the game actually ended (no kidding, it really does end!). I tried to get my quarter back from the arcade guy, but no go. :)
Best config I have found is using Ultimarc U360 sticks, one for LEFT hand and one for RIGHT hand. In your 2-player control panel, just swap out the traditional sticks for the 360's. They work great and play is excellent when configured as 4 way sticks.
