Hi guys, I own this cab.
How do I know what resolution i can use? It is an Hantarex MTC-900 as far as I know, I can be wrong though.
Can I use VGA (640 * 480) for mame?
-
Yes, but only in interlaced modes. I would not recommend that.
It would be a better idea to install soft 15khz and run games in their native resolutions. They will look much better this way. They will look 99.9% indistinguishable from a PCB.
-
But what resolution for the front end? And things like Hyperspin will it work on this kind of simple monitor? Or should I stick to MaLa?
What is that 1 percent you speaking of? :)

typically the highest res you can for the front end. MaLa is wonderful, and he said 99.9% so thats .1% and Im sure hes referring to games that use an odd resolution and you have to pick a slightly different resolution and have very small black bars

So with this neogeo monitor I will not be able to play games like street fighter and stuff because they are 640 * 480?
-
Look up that monitor to find it's specs. For example:
google search (http://www.google.com/search?q=Hantarex+MTC-900+&rls=com.microsoft:en-us:IE-SearchBox&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=ie7&rlz=1I7ADBF)
free manual download (http://www.eserviceinfo.com/downloadsm/10315/Hantarex_MTC900.html)
Then read the link in my sig about monitors to understand things like scan rate and native display.

The only Street Fighter game that runs in 640x480 will be street fighter IV. It's entirely possible that you will be able to run SFIV PC version in interlaced mode when it comes out.
All other street fighter games should be fine on your monitor.
