Title: Widescreen Vertical Marquee in MAME?
Post by: Kong Jnr. on June 04, 2009, 10:04:05 am
Hey guys, i'm considering using a spare 20'' Widescreen LCD in vertical aspect ratio (for games like DK, Galaga etc). This leaves a bit of space at the top and bottom of the screen. Was wondering if it is possible to 'nudge' the game to the bottom of the screen real estate and have the marquee art at the top of the display real estate?

Yes.

I'm pretty sure it's been talked about before on these forums.  It has to do with making your own layouts.  Umm... (lots of) info on that over at mamedev wiki (http://mamedev.org/devwiki/index.php/Layouts_and_Rendering_for_MAME_Artwork_System), and an online .lay generator can be found here (http://maws.mameworld.info/maws/mame_lay.html).

If you couldn't tell, I've never done it myself, and only understand the concept.  I did a few quick searches for the threads I thought were here but didn't find any.  Others here who've done might be of more help, or at least link to the older threads I couldn't find.
