I haven't ever been able to get galaga to work in mame32. I've tried several different versions of the galaga.zip file. The version of mame32 i'm using is 0.93. I know its an old version but my computer in my cabinet isn't the greatest thing in the world but runs most games without any problems. What can I do to get this game to work?

is it worth trying normal mame 0.93 to see if it works? I can't seem to find a copy of mame32 .93 to try

I would, but I am very bad at command prompt. It would take me a long time to setup a front end to use it. I have newer versions of mame32 on my desktop and laptop and it won't work on those either.

Use MAME32 vs.61,do an audit on the roms or mess with your "Triple Buffer & Wait V-Sync" options.

You need to make sure your romset matches the version of MAME you are using. The roms change from time to time causing some of them to be unplayable. I had this issue with Galaga a while back - it changed not too long ago.

For the record, the command prompt version is no more difficult to use than the UI version. If you create a mame.ini file then all you have to do is call mame with the rom name (e.g., mame galaga). Most of the options in MAME are defaulted to a good value, so you can run many games just fine without any changes to the mame.ini file.
