Title: USB powered speakers
Post by: WifeHatesMame on May 30, 2009, 01:16:46 pm
I saw some 15 dollar Altec Lansing speakers at wallyworld that I thought might work for a bartop or mincade type machine. Anyone have any feedback on these? Do they sound decent? Thanks!

If they are xt1 or xt2 usb speakers buy them fast.   Easily worth 4 times what wally is charging.    If another model not familiar with a cheaper one.

I'e always found USB powered speakers way too weak, even for a Bar-Top. Desktop speakers are fine, but try and get mains powered ones.

I think I have those exact ones.  They are decent enough, they get the job done, but dont sound so great.  For arcade sounds,  they would be fine/loud enough on a bartop or maybe a minicade IMO, but im not too picky about sound.

That was exactly what I was wondering, what kind of juice were you going to get from just a +5v source?

For headsets, it would probably be great, but driving desktop speakers? Hmmm.
