Title: upgraded from mame .96 to .131 - hi score qustions
Post by: mlcampbe on May 28, 2009, 11:13:31 am
In mame .96 I had a directory call hi and games saved the hi score to a file in here. It appears that in .131 you have to enable autosave and this puts info into a sta directory. This appears to include the hi score and other stuff. Is there a way to convert my previous hi scores to the new format that mame .131 will use?

No.

No.

That is an incorrect answer.  If you compile highscore.dat compatibility back in to your version of MAME,  you certainly CAN use those old highscore files.

Ah, but that wasn't the question... the question was "Can they be converted?"  :)

...by the letter of the question...I concur.

I think the guy is just out  to try to get his HS files to work.   Go to the SOFTWARE forum,  look up the sticky on HISCORE.DAT there.... then compile the support in to MAME.  It's a lot easier than it sounds.

Ok, so the original question was about converting the old HS files to be able to use with the default version .131 and that is not possible. However, as suggested I got a version of mame.exe v.131 that includes HS support and it does work fine. No need to re-invent the wheel since someone else has already built it  :)
