Title: kator legaz bartops and IPAC-VE ?'s
Post by: jholman76 on May 26, 2009, 10:24:10 am
I am making a bar top this spring and I am looking at the plans on bartoparcade.katorlegaz.com. He has some good ideas there. I like the 4th one down due to its size and the fact I have a few spare 17" LCD's and some small PC's laying around.  :)

My question is about the CP, is 20" really enough room for a 2 player fighter config? I really would like to have it be 2 player, but I didnt know if anyone has build a Legaz design like this one.

I like the design because I can use some spare shelving I have to make the whole thing.  ;D

If it is, I'll probably just get a IPAC-VE rather than hack 2 controllers since its only 10 bucks more and looks so much better inside. Question 2: are there drawbacks to the VE other than it resetting the settings? If I make a 1 player cab, I'm going to hack a USB gamepad.

Thanks.

Just keep in mind that several people here have regretted buying the IPAC-VE because it doesn't remember the settings. If you're going to do this right, just save yourself the headache and go at least with the Ipac-2.

Mine is 23 5/8" and it's tight. 20" is going to be rough. We don't have much elbow room already.

This is what I feared, but I have a spare keyboard hack I made so I can get the ESC, COIN, and START buttons. Its good to work in IT where people throw away working stuff!

Would this be a suitable work around for the VE's short-comings in your opinion?

If anything I can just hack a single gamepad and add the keyboard hack and have plenty of room for my spinner hack. I plan on having a couple Playstation2 ports for PSX controllers, so if I really need P2 , we can just use those or a USB controller.

HACK HACK HACK. thats all I am!

Does anyone know of any other "free use" bartop plans out there? I dont necessarily need a marquee and 2P w/6 buttons each would be preferred since this one would fall under the 1P design.

better off with an IPAC2, and you dont wanna go any less then about 24" for 2 player fighting layout unless you both have incredibly short arms

Definately NOT me.. hah. 6ft 3 @ 265. I think this will be a 1P cab with 2P USB/PSX ports! now I just have to wait for the slow boat from China to get me my gamepads.

I thought About that, but I like the size of the PSX controllers better.

I do have a couple XBOX 360 wireless controllers with the PC dongle, so maybe those are a worth a try since I have them already.
