For the past few weeks, I've noticed Local Arcade has been grinding to a halt... pages don't load completely or sometimes at all

Downloading zip files from there hasn't worked in ages. Only a quarter of the picture (or less) is contained in the zip. The site is seriously messed up. :(
-
I am also bummed that the site is wasting away. :'(
-
I haven't been able to download a complete file from there in ages.
-
Really? I keep trying to figure out what's wrong and can't. Do you have a specific file that always fails?
-
Every file I've tried to download from there in the last couple weeks has failed.

There... that one just failed on me... both zip and non zip.
This site was originally started by Chris Newton (mahuti) of Barrett-Newton Interactive. He has now had to move on to bigger and better things. Now I, Sirwoogie, now have control over this site. It is still the place to share arcade art. I currently help Saint run the Build Your Own Arcade Controls (BYOAC) website, forum and wiki. I thought my continued contribution to the arcade community could best be served by my IT experience. The arcade community as a whole is pretty dedicated, and continue to amaze me by the quality and dedication. Help keep this place going!
Is Sirwoogie still in charge there?

Just tried it. Zip failed, but the non zip did not fail. I don't think I've ever tried the zip method before. It's a little odd, the file date in the zip archive is 1/1/1601.

Try to actually OPEN that non-zip file. Something downloads, but it's not the proper. AI file.

Already, did that. It opened up fine in Reader.

Strange. It won't open for me in Illustrator... or Photoshop...
Nor Foxit... and I had no idea Adobe Reader actually opened Adobe Illustrator files?! I won't install Reader though... if it won't open in Illustrator, it's corrupt.
BTW: The file size downloaded is only 34K... seems small. I just tried the trick to change .AI to .PDF to get Foxit to read .AI files. Still no work...

Sorry, don't have Photoshop or Illustrator with me. Reader is the only thing I have with me.
On your side if those other programs won't open it then I doubt Reader would as well.

I would say : Is Sirwoogie still here?
communication with him is like sending pam or mail to /dev/null

I thought it was just my bad connection the other day, but others are having problems, too. :(

If this site just needs a new host, I'd have no problem providing free hosting.
I'd just love to see this great resource back up and running regardless.
