Me again. I'm looking at an NFL Blitz control panel that a friend of mine literally just gave me, and I see a pair of joysticks that I've never seen before. Are these maybe the 49-way opticals I've heard Midway used from time to time?
Can anyone identify these? Furthermore, does anyone have any thoughts about using them in a cab?
Thanks for any advice anyone can offer.
Cheers,
Eric

I can't identify them, but supposedly, that is what NFL Blitz used. I bet thats what they are.

That is a 49 position optical stick and to my knowledge nobody has been fully successfull at interfacing these to a pc. Not yet at least.

from the console faq on this site...
"" If you do happen to get your hands on a 49-way stick, Tim over at arcadecollecting.com has developed a circuit to use the 49-way in place of an analog (or hall effect type) joystick. The circuit can also be modified slightly to pull double duty as an 8-way digital stick (using just the first sets of led contacts). ""
I'm sure it can be made to work with a PC if you were able to build it in the first place =P *shrug*

Thanks for the input, guys!
I think, for now, I'll just stick to my 360's. Still, I'll hang onto them. Never know when I might get the itch to build that Food Fight/NBA Jam/NFL Blitz cab and use the correct hardware...

I thought NBA Jam used 8-ways.

Oh, maybe you're right. I was thinking it and Blitz were the same, but I can't remember why I think that, so I could be mistaken.
