Title: medium res tube queastion
Post by: ZMB on May 22, 2009, 05:50:13 pm
I have a neotec nt-2501 monitor that was in a crusin. The High voltage section burned a hole right through the the chasis board. Can I still use the tube with other chasis boards?...like a wells standard res?

it shouldn't be a problem.

and as long as you have the proper yoke to go with the chassis you choose.

actually , on the low/med wg's , the yokes are standard zenith tv yokes ( 15khz )  nothing special

they change capacitance via the jumper for each scan frequency.

same scheme is used in multisync crt computer monitors.
capacitance switched in/out via mosfets or relays to make it easier.

That's actually good to know, which obviously I didn't.
I've had a couple 25" medium resolution tubes laying around (meaning medium res yokes) that I wanted to do something with. I may just make them std res and be done with it since I use more of those anyways.

But the OP did mention they have a Neotec tube, so will this still apply if they go with say a WG std res chassis ?

probably .

awhile back , i got LAZY on a crt swap on a wg chassis . i don't recall the donor tv brand, but i left the
yoke/conv rings where they were.
swap worked fine . just had to modify the yoke connectors to mate w/chassis.

of course, your results may vary  ;D
