Hi guys,
Im looking to be able to record Mame im not sure if there is a mamewah function to do this or maybe some additional software. Me and my friends meet up once a month and battle it out on various games and it would be nice to record these encounters. Is it possible?
If it is can this be done without having to exit full screen I recall that on an older version of mame I could take screen grabs by pressing one on the function keys F8 I think but as far as im aware there was no record function.
Many Thanks in advance.

Pressing Shift-F12 starts recording video in mng format in Mame's snap folder. There are a few tools that can then convert mng files to avi here (http://wiki.arcadecontrols.com/wiki/Utilities)

Iv tried that mate but it really slowed the game down to the point of it not being playable do I need to change any option to alter this slow down?

I was going to mention that it probably wouldn't be playable while recording unless you had a really fast PC and HDD. You might want to try something like Fraps instead, but that could still slow things down too much.
The ideal solution would be to output a cloned signal to a DVD recorder and record that way.
