I have a Dreamcast using a scart rgb cable. The point is that a few games I have display authentic scanlines on screen (exactly the same as an arcade monitor). For instance: Last Blade 2 or Street Fighter 3 Double Impact. Most of the games I have don't show scanlines. Well, in fact it's like they show scanlines but interlaced or something because they seem to move upwards or downwards the screen very quickly so you cannot see them. I've been thinking about it and maybe the games at low res like the ones I mentioned show scanlines because they're at 15khz. Games at 640x480 must be at 31khz, so no scanlines should be visible, right? However, Street Fighter 3 third strike is also low res and it doesn't display scanlines. I don't understand it. Is there a way I can get scanlines in all games or at least in all low res games with my Dreamcast and my scart connector? Thanx.

what kind of monitor are you using ? ??? vga?
use a 15 khz arcade monitor and vga box hack...that should give you the scan lines.
I ran dreamcast through extron super emotia scan converter and shows scanlines better then ever.
Never tried the vga box hack but I assume it DOES show scanlines if you an actual arcade monitor.
Here is pic running through scan converter.

this is the wells gardner k7400 monitor.
Oh and the jaginess in sf3 is normal.the spirites are low res and you really cant do much do "hide" the low res sprites.even using arcade monitors..still visible.
Its how the game is.
guilty gear x looks normal though..no jaggy/blockyness.

A european TVset with scart connector.

See... you might be confused.
The scan lines are built into the TV by the way it displays the image on the screen. I'm not saying a few of your games don't have some sorta special effect on 'em that makes 'em seem more arcadey to you... but scanlines are a product of viewing images/games on a TV or arcademonitor...
This would only be an issue (missing scanlines) if you were displaying on a VGA monitor (save for the one/style snaaaack mentioned) since PC monitors don't have scanlines (or rather they are so small/fast you don't notice/see them.)
*shrug* got any pics to better illustrate your concern.

Yes I know. The fact is that a scart tv is exactly the same as an arcade monitor. Actually I've used a vga to scart cable and I've displayed MAME on my tv and the scanlines are there, perfect, the same as an arcade monitor. This happens using advance mame and the display being sent at 15khz. With Street Fighter 3 double impact (DC) the exact real scanlines appear on the screen of my TV. Maybe it depends on the game: some displaying at 15khz through the scart cable and others at 31khz.
