Hi everyone,
I just finished my VGA->SCART cable, installed Soft15KHz on the computer and it all works very good, with one exception.
I have to get into the service mode/menu on the TV, to edit the overscan, which is displaying the picture outside the top, bottom and sides of the TV.
For this, I found the following website, regarding accessing the service mode on a Samsung TV like the one I have:
http://www.riddledtv.com/forums/samsung-tv-service-menu-codes-plasma-lcd-crt-rptv-t291.html (http://www.riddledtv.com/forums/samsung-tv-service-menu-codes-plasma-lcd-crt-rptv-t291.html)
The problem is, i don't know what the P.STD button is on my remote - which looks like this:

Does anyone have an idea to which button to use as P.STD, or maybe another way to alter the with and height of the image shown on the TV from the computer. Some kind of software?

I think it's the "Picture Mode" button.
The button to the right of the zero.
But it may be a secondary function of that button from the looks of how it's marked. (white markings on the remote case, not the button itself)

Hmm, didn't seem to work. Are there any applications which can minimize the screen?

You should try to find your TV's model number. Service mode access keys & sequence may (probably) be different for different models. If there is no button marked "P.STD" on your remote, then you should consider the strong possibility that you need a different code combo altogether.

The TV is a Samsung CB-5079T - I can't seem to find the manual online either, which could probably tell me what the p.std button is, if it is to be found on the remote.
It sucks not to be able to correct the overscan, with the picture being so good elsewise.
-
pse double check the model number .
cb-5079t doesn't come up as a valid number , even direct at samsung ????
some mfgrs used a seperate service remote, or minor modification on user remote.

Found these from googling......
stand by - mute - 1 8 2 - power on
or
stand by - sleep - p.std - mute - pow.on
or
stand by - p.std - menu - sleep - pow.on
Was mentioned you had to enter them fast or it wouldn't take it.
:dunno

Okay, I also found the manual on several sites - but I don't want to pay for something that probably wont help me.
I've tried the "stand by - mute - 1 8 2 - power on" about 40 times, fast, slow, and holding my hand in front of the remote until pressing power on - nothing works.
I maybe have to find a TV, where I'm able to correct the picture from inside the TV. Getting to the service menu sucks on this TV.

The info I have says that you enter service mode with Samsung CB-5079 like this:
STAND-BY --> DISPLAY --> P.STD --> MUTE --> POWER ON.
Controls: VOL +/-, CH +/-. Exit: POWER OFF.
I know that this doesn't help you find the P.STD button, but I wonder if you have the right remote for your TV?

It's the remote I got with the TV, but it could be necessary with a special service remote.
Maybe I'll just have to junk this samsung and find another Sony.
