Title: Screen has "waves"
Post by: bluevolume on May 20, 2009, 11:28:36 am
Hello everyone, I've been off the scene for a year or so!  I just picked up a Tic Tac Trivia game and i'm going through a restore.

The monitor looks pretty good except for a few problems.  First, there is a sort of "wave" problem, where every couple seconds you can see a dark ripple move across the screen from left to right.  I attached a link to a video since this is sort of hard to explain.

Also, the geometry is a bit off, and I can't get the image to center on the screen (the right side gets cut off regardless of the size and sync controls).  I'm thinking this guy needs a cap kit, maybe a flyback too, but I wanted to see what the monitor pros had to say first.

Link to video: (let me know if it needs to be in a different format)

Thanks!

crt is side mounted,  and " wave"  appears to be a variation on a hum bar . roughly 60hz in this instance .

double check all grounding and jamma connections.
