Since there are more fans of those games (see this old thread (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=82128.0)) I figured I'd post it here as well:
Early preview by the same team that made ICO and SotC:

Beat me to it. I was just coming in to post this.

Damn them for making me want a PS3! I love Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, and this looks freakin' awesome!
-
Looks great. They better support 1080i.
-
Wow. This is the first I've heard of this. Looks amazing. I just finished SotC a little while ago. Never got through Ico -- its puzzles made me feel like an idiot. I'll have to give it another shot.
So looking forward to this. Hope they support 1080i too -- especially since I just got burned by Infamous.

Confirmed at E3, the name will be "The Last Guardian". The trailer was updated (some graphical improvements) but was generally the same.
-
can't wait, ICO and SotC are my favorite console games of all time
no news on a release date at E3 though
anybody hear anything on that front?
-
the game looks amazing I can actually see this a great system seller for Sony considering how treasured the other two Team ICO games have become. also javeryh why would you want an interlaced Image you are much better off with a progressive image if you want the best quality picture with no artifacting or tearing just compare the two on a fast motion scene and you will see what i mean

Treasured and good games, yes. But system sellers? No freaking way. You have to have wider appeal then that.
Shadow of the Colossus has 0.73 Million copies sold in the US 0.93 in US+JP, the PS2 install base is something in excess of 120 million.
In comparison, Metal Gear Solid 4, for instance, has sold over 4 million copies on the PS3's install base of around 30 million. That is a system seller, when a large chunk of your install base wants to have the game.
No doubt Trico will be cool, but its not going to sell systems.

I agree, though it made me want a PS3 finally. ICO did the same for me with the PS2. It was the game that made me decide it was time to buy it.
-
I will play this game. I may beg, borrow, or steal a ps3 to do it though.

I think this time will be a bit differnt
for the first two sony did absolutly no marketing and there was ZERO base for ICO and only a small one from that for SotC
Now Both games are legendary and I don't think Sony will make the same mistake a third time (but you never know)
I predict 2 million at least and it is the kind of game people will make the plung for

just as a side note check out the resale price for the PAL Version of ICO it's usually over $50 us pretty crazy for a 8 year old game (the PAL Version has some extra features the us version didn't)
-
Given the fact they announced it along side games like uncharted 2 and God Of War III chances are it's going to get the exposure it deserves so at least they are on the right track so far.
-
Yes exposure does mean something these days without it a good game can lose out on sales like any other game. Keep in mind most people even though we have the internet and user reviews will not take the time to research what they are buying so the only way they going to get their product out is by word of mouth and advertising.

here is an interesting breakdown (http://ps3.ign.com/dor/objects/14230646/ico-project/videos/lastguardian_spc_rewindtheater_061509.html) of "The Last Gardian" E3 Trailer from IGN
still heard nothing on a release date, or even year :badmood:

here is an article (http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3174577) with a little more information and says it will be released in 2010
