Title: Chassis/PCB Cleaning?
Post by: nazerine on May 15, 2009, 06:40:10 pm
Hey guys,

The cab I picked up has an Electrohome G07 19", and I am curious what the best method to clean it is?

It seems the dust and grim is from cigarette smoke, as my compressor won't even blow the dust off... I've read about cleaning gameboards in the dishwasher, but I highly doubt that applies to a chassis  :-\

Thanks!

You can put a chassis in the washer, just don't use detergent.

I personally wet them down with a hose, and scrub off what I can, then rinse.

An hour in a 200 degree oven to dry it off, and there you go.  Just be sure to not press anything against the element (if you have electric).  I did that once, what a pain to fix that.

Thanks for the advice SirPeale;

I'm assuming neckboard and everything else go through the washer too? Don't mind my ignorance here, I've never disassembled a CRT before.. I'm going to have even more questions when I attempt a tube swap next week  >:D
