My Nvidia tray icon keeps disappearing. I go into the forceware properties>tools and 'enable task bar icon' is unchecked. Every day this happens. Anyone have an idea what's happening?

Run msconfig, go to startup, and see if it's listed there.

I'm not sure. There's something called igfxtray. That's the only thing I can see that may be it. If that's not it, then how do I get it on there? Nothing I see in my Nvidia folder to put in the start folder.

Start->Run->type "msconfig" (enter)

No, no, no. I did that. The only thing I see in the 'startup' tab list is igfxtray. But I don't think that's it, because I un-checked it, checked it, restarted, and nothing's different. So how do I get it to show up in the list?

The way CP handles tray icons is known to be a little buggy, from icons not disappearing to icons not showing. Right click on your taskbar select Properties then under the "Notification Area" select the Customize... button. You should be able to set the icon to "Always show".

Yeah, I've played with that before. Almost always, it won't from one day to the next show the sndvol icon.....except....I just noticed, it is showing today. ...in...the Twilight Zone. It's also showing the nvidia icon...but that may be because I called up the Nvidia control panel yesterday and the tray icon came up so maybe that's why it is today. Then again, maybe that 'igfxtray' was it, and it's there because yesterday in msconfig I unchecked and rechecked it and saved. Dunnoooo.

Well, it went away again. However, after stopping some services (suggestions from Black Viper's site) all my tray icons that are supposed to be there - sndvol, nvidia, etc - are there and staying there from day to day. Hmmmm.
