Title: Best software for video juke
Post by: surgeo on May 12, 2009, 01:52:32 pm
I've been reading the forum and I am still trying to figure what would be the best software to add music videos with the regular audio files. I would like to scroll to an artist, pull up the album and select a video from that album to play full screen. Anyone know what software I could use. Plus what type of computer would you use to be a video juke?

Thanks in advance

I will suggest E-Touch! You can download youtube videos and they will play with E-Touch with ease. You need Windows Media Player 11.

About the computer, just find one on craigslist or ebay. Any computer that has 1ghz processor and 512 RAM will work fine. Buy from the Dell Optiplex line because most of the Optiplex's are from Office enviroments and they were networked, so their hard drives wasnt used that much and wont be full of cigarette nicotine. Most are 2.4 ghz with 512 or better RAM. The onboard video and sound work well. They run about $65.00 on craigslist to about $125.00 after shipping on ebay.

Or if you want to build one yourself and have a Microcenter near by:

This is a great mobo/processor combo with Great Video & Sound onboard

You will need http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0289511 (http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0289511) this memory.

Also this http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0304816 (http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0304816) heatsink.

For a hard drive I would use a SATA http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0289051 (http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0289051).

And power supply ( some will dispute this selection ) http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0248568 (http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0248568).

Basic yet very functional for what you want it for!

Again, E-Touch is the software of CHOICE by many here on BYOAC!

Hope this Helps!

For video no matter what software you use you will want a graphics card that will output to 2 screens. I use the SVIDEO to output my music videos to a second screen using a wireless video sender so i don't have wires trailing.

My free jukebox software requires Windows Media Player 9.0 and allows for videos and audio files to be played together and it supports dual monitors as well.   I use dual monitors to play audio/video files on my touchscreen monitor. The software has a bunch if features as well.  I would suggest you try it out and see if you like the feel of it.

An audio file and video file for the same song can exist in the same artist/album folder.  When the album song is highlighted then my software allows the user to select the video or audio file to play at a touch of a button.

Not sure about the computer speed.   I just had a computer which plays my videos fast and smooth enough.

l use and really like the dukeboxer software, it does every thing l need and a lot more, with plenty of skin , fonts colors and layout choices. it does kareoke, plays video and of course audio in many different file formats using one or more monitors.
It is not free but will only cost u about $57 aus dollars. U can download a trial version from thedukboxer.com and the only limitations it has is that it will shutdown after 6 songs , so u can get a real feel for the program.

should the domain name not point to the new name, as more more people now find your software as E-Touch?
