Title: Miss April 1989 oh so sexy.. (pics) Not Spam..
Post by: supadave on May 11, 2009, 10:59:34 am
As I was working on my NBA JAM cab I decided to peel some paint to see what this cabinet really was. I knew it wasn't a midway cab and I suspected it to be a Konami cab. I was correct. As I started to peel away the paint I quickly could tell by Miss April 1989 that it was a TMNT cab. Now I have some strange hybrid action going on.. NBA Jam CP and Marque with lovely TMNT Sideart..

What should I do with this cabinet?

Before eveyone says mame it I want you to know that I intend on building a new cabinet for mame using this as a model. But as for this cab i'm not sure what to do.. Keep it NBA JAM (Repaint sides) or pick up the TMNT pcb, overlay and Marque and restore it to it's original state for a few extra bucks.

Almost 100 views and no one commented.. That's a tough call, I enjoy both NBA Jam and TMNT, however I would keep it / restore it back to a TMNT dedicated.

based on your your subject line, I thought this
might've been some kinda spambot or something...

Tough call...  if it were me, I'd probably mame it
anyway, but preserve the sideart and all as much
as possible.

I've leaning towards making it a TMNT cab as well. It just sounds like alot more work involved.. LOL

I blame Shredder for this.  Since I think only burned out, hopeless machines should be Mame'd, I'd say, restore it to a TMNT!  Much more classic game than NBA Jam.  Though that one was fun as well.  But just the demo sequence for TMNT when the sound is cranked is enough to take me back to the mid 80s when I would hit arcades with my cousins all the time.  Pizza Power!

Well, I picked up some paint remover and some tools to finish cleaning the paint off. I see a TMNT machine in my future.

I guess that means my next post will look something like this..

WTB- TMNT Marque, CP Overlay, and PCB  ;D

That artwork does look in pretty good shape, I was going to suggest TMNT but mamed then you could have the other turtle games on there from the SNES. Good luck with the resto dude.

Is it just me or does her left leg look wierd?  Positioning of her foot and knee doesn't look natural; or even possible for that matter.
Its probably just me  ;D

I see what you mean. Clearly, they broke her leg for the photoshoot.
