Title: A rather quiet film is making a heck of a lot of money
Post by: RTSDaddy2 on May 08, 2009, 05:54:43 am
If you haven't taken your kid to see Monsters Vs. Aliens yet, you need to do so. If you don't have a kid, ask your brother or sister if you can rent theirs for two hours.

Normally films that open in March have gone the way of the dodo, but this little gem continues raking in the dough. $182 million plus, and it is deserving of every penny.  Best thing Dreamworks has put out animation wise.  I may go back (for my fourth time) again this weekend if I can't get Trek tickets.

Rather quiet?  It's a major studio production.  Dreamworks is a major player.  The only reason it's a spring release rather than summer is because they know it isn't as good as they had hoped.  If they had more confidence this would have been their big summer blitz movie.

My wife took my daughter.  Wife said it was just okay.  She said it is exactly what I expect.

By the way, considering that Dreamworks is responsible for Chicken Run, saying ANYTHING is the best animation Dreamworks has ever done (besides CR, of course) will automatically be met with a great deal of skepticism.   ;D

I am from the Modesto, CA area and I went and saw this for the first time at Brenden Theater in Modesto. I had no clue that the movie plot takes place in Modesto. It was hoot!

I thought to myself, is this an edit trick, where they splice in each city venue it shows in?

So, did the movie plot take place in Modesto for all you other viewers too?

Wow, no.  It said Philly here.  I mean, why would they pick Modesto?  Who'd want to live there?
