Title: Before you're into buying a Sidewinder USB pad read this!

Ok here's the deal:


The Microsoft Sidewinder pad, is great due to it's extreme compatiblity with most of emulated and other games!

There's one problem that blows it up, all the buttons are stiff like stone and sometimes that can be a problem playing games like per example:

- In KOF (all series), special moves don't come easy, sometimes you have to 'smack' the pad to perform one!

- In Super Hang-On, every turn has to be done 30 mins. earlier, if not you'll visit the nice trees in Africa! LOL

...and several other games that were meant to be played with a Genesis pad!

If you have money to afford other company pads, do it, because i think this one 'needs to be oiled' in the 1st place!

PS: I don't like Microsoft and this product is still a prove that those guys ain't good people!


Does anyone know if it's possible to connect a genesis pad to PC??

You have to build an adaptor, but SNESKey will do let you use a 3 or 6 button Genesis pad.  I don't know if you can use more than one though.

As for the Sidewinder.  I haven't had any trouble with mine.  Thinking about buying a second one.  Maybe you got a defective unit.

The pad works fine but is too stiff...  :(

That makes me pissed off beause i can't make specials in KOF right!

I found the buttons in mine soft enough. Is yours the older style serial?

Maybe i'll oil the pad! LOL


The Pad is a regular USB port Sidewinder with no special functions like dual shock...

There are cheap adapters available that will allow you to use console controllers on your PC.  I used a PS2 dual shock for a long time, but currently I prefer the Xbox controller.

For fighting games, many people seem to feel that the Sega Saturn gamepads are as good as it gets for six-button fighters (short of a real arcade joystick).

Just read a press release yesterday that stated that Microsoft was getting out of the game controller business, and offering "liquidation" pricing to retailers to help them clear out their inventory.

Not a good time to buy a Sidewinder, methinks...
