Title: How to Light up Happs Trackball
Post by: Poefue on May 06, 2009, 08:08:33 pm
Hey guys, Looking for any suggestions for how to light up my Happs trackball.  I thought about trying to find a small kind of lamp or mounting a blacklight underneath the CP.  Let me know which route I should go.  Thanks in advance.

Works great for me!  :)

Runs off 5V line too for easy hookup.

Not as slick as the LightMite but these can work as well for basic illumination:

Are those light mite's extra bright?   I think I still have the stock ones in the Slikstik panel.

I wouldn't call them "extra" bright.  They do use a super bright high flux LED.  They are adequate for a normally lit room.  They include a dimmer as some still find there is too much glare at full power.
I've only had one or two say they weren't bright enough for their taste, likely due to a very brightly lit room or a room that gets direct sunlight.
Keep in mind though you can assemble your own with up to 4 leds in whatever brightness you like.  Also you can get a little more brightness out of them by mounting them directly to the trackball instead of using the pcb mounting foot method.

I think it is more how dull the light that came with the CO2 stock.    I like the apparatus though.  Thanks for the heads up.
