Title: Z26 and zipped roms ???
Post by: joeblade on July 02, 2003, 11:10:22 pm
Am I missing something here, or does the atari 2600 emu -Z26 not work with zipped roms  ???.

I thought it did for some reason, but just started playing some more with this emu last night and haven't managed to get it working with zipped roms.

Since there are 2 file extensions in the good2600 set (.a26 and bin), and by the sound of things (from what I read of another thread), no way to have 2 rom name extension in mamewah (which I have also just started playing with, well the new version anyway), I guess this means I will have to setup two emu's in mamewah for the 2600 stuff.

Would this be about the gist of it ?

Cheers

Martin

Yep.  I had the same problem.

I unzipped all my ROMs and changed all the BIN extensions to A26.  That seems to work just fine.  Plus I think the good2600.dat file uses ALL A26 extensions anyway.

Cool. I assumed that if the file extensions were not correct, z26 would handle them incorrectly.

As for the dat file, I have given up on them (other than for use by the FE). I was having so many problems with using DAT files to check my roms (jaguar and lynx were prime candidates). Now I just use the good tools (as in the actual good exe's) to check my good roms - haven't had a problem yet !

Cheers for the replies guys.
