Hi folks. I have decided that when my current two projects are eventually finished ( one 25" Street Fighter layout with a 4 way stick in the middle and one 19" vertical with 1x8 way and 1x4 way ) I am going to build a dedicated Defender/Stargate cab from the ground up.
Does anyone have access to plans or anything else that would help. I know where I can get side art stickers but I was thinking of a stencil ( more authentic ) any ideas would be appreciated. Thankyou.

Found this somewhere on the net I hope it helps.

NICE, thankyou. That's a great start, now for the cabinet plans lol.

Defender is the greatest game ever... I spent many, many hours on that during my high school days!

Thanks for that link, I have been there and there is some good info. I'm really looking for some more "complete" plans. More blue print kind of stuff so I can make this thing an exact replica.
I agree with you Defender kicks ass!

There used to be more complete plans on the web, on one particular site - but the site is no longer. Hopefully someone still has them.
Good Luck.

Here's a bunch of pictures that I collected while building my Defender control panel:

It's just some misc stuff I found on the internet. Here's my defender CP page:

It's quite likely, being the Internet and all. Do you remember the name/URL of the site?

I have several empty Defender and Stargate cabs (they are quite different BTW) and if you live near the florida panhandle I could sell you one super cheap.. possibly even free as a few of them are in not so great shape.. If at all possible I'll try to take some measurement of the dimensions when I have time..
-
Wow that's a generous offer.
Now I wonder what the shipping to New Zealand would be?
Thanks for your offer but I'm guessing at least US$1000 shipping lol.
Now measurements would be awesome. If you have the time that would be fantastic, either post them on this thread or send me an e-mail.
Measure EVERYTHING lol.

I definitely agree that Defender is one of the best games of all time.
Have you considered buying one of the 2 way joysticks being sold on Ebay for $5 - http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=13718&item=3231651084 ?
The auction says shipping to the USA only. However I just bought some joysticks (2 & 4 way) from the same guy and I live in the UK.
-
For those who do live in the US. I can't say enough good things about Defender cabinets. They are built like a tank, easy to deal with, and super common (Defender was one of the highest production runs ever).
I still can't believe I traded off the last two I used to have for almost nothing.
-
My cabinet is a former Moon Patrol, and I love the thing. Very well built, things in logical places.
I believe it's a Williams as well, correct?

If you remember the URL, you can try the Wayback Machine (http://www.archive.org/)

Actually the cab I'm in the process of hacking is a Stargate. What are you looking for? Want a board set for cheap? ;)
-
Yes if you are serious I will buy the Stargate board set from you ( or trade ). I guess it's untested lol.
-
Heh, I msgd him about that boardset too. I have one empty cabinet left (with monitor). I was going to put my Super Basketball boardset in it and sell it in the paper, but I imagine a Stargate would sell much easier.

Check out these 2 links. Neither of them is a direct link but may be able to lead you in the right direction:

Noooooooooooo don't sell it I want to build a dedicated Stargate cab for it you can't just pick them up on the side of the road in New Zealand like you can in the States and UK ya know.
I've never seen an original Defender or Stargate over here. I'm sure they exist but where? Who knows?

Well, I was only going to offer $20 for it, so just offer more =). It is probably worth more, but I really don't need it, and thus don't really want to pay much.
(I imagine Super Basketball would fetch $150 in the paper, while a non-dedicated Stargate would be like $200, so it isn't THAT large of a difference).
-
Okay, here's some Defender measurements. Hope they help...

Ok I offer $30 lol.
Is this an auction now?
Xochi please please please it's a good cause. I will build a worthy shrine for your Stargate board.
