What you mean by not working full screen?

Does it run windowed?   or  do you see black row on the left and right?

Or else?

Do you use a TFT (Flat) screen or a CRT (not flat) ?

I don't thing. If it is windowed  (i mean you see the game in a window like it was normal windows application , with title bar ect..).  It should be just a mame settings.
Do you have a mame.ini file in your mame folder?

Or a setting in maximus .

When you are on the game, if you type the key : ALT+ENTER  (first ALT , keep pressed and press Enter)  What happens?

Use mame32. See if 'stretch to fit' is grayed out. What OS are you using? Regardless, you might need drivers.

Yes - look up 'mame video re-write'. Then, depending on which 'era' you're using, read the help file of it.

ok...i havean old version of mame32...  .90 I think...  it works great on the one computer and mameui32 will NOT go full screen.  I am using a BUNCH of vid cards and none of them will take ui32 to full screen.  So am I stuck with using mame32...are there any disadvantages to this at all...  THis old  computer is a duron 1.66 with 2GB Ram...should be fine....  Thanx for your help

What OS? What video card drivers? What are your mame video settings?  What kind of monitor are you using?   In answering these questions, you'll have to figure out how these things work, and work together/are dependent upon each other.

Win Xp Sp3, Most current drivers for the Rage 128, Mag 795 is the monitor, OLD crt, Mame is set to full screen...
The computer is an old AMD 1.66 Duron with 2gb Ram.  Weird...  Thanx for your help...OF course all this is pointless once I change my monitor...LOL...  Thanx

UPDATE:

OK...  I have tried everything...  Is it possible for the motherboard of the computer to be causing this.  I have everything loaded on a MYBOOK and tried it on several computers and this one is the only one that does this.  I even tried MameFX, which I like the interface, it does the same thng.  Here is something i noticed, when the program works the way I want, the monitor does that ON/OFF thing and goes full screen.  On the other computer, it just loads in a window...   Again...AMD, Athalon, 1.25, 2GB Ram..etc...  I can not seem to figure it out....

Thanx all

I think you have 'switch resolutions to fit' enabled. If so, turn it off.

If that ain't it: with XP no drivers are needed for a rage128, so you could be having some conflicts. I couldn't ever find any that would load, then found out they were included in XP. What other cards did you try?
