Title: Purchasing parts
Post by: Sir Headless VII on April 28, 2009, 01:34:16 pm
So I was in Saudi Arabia planning to make my first cabinet, I had planned to order all the parts and have them waiting for me at home when I got back. Then the bank decided they had my address wrong and canceled my credit card. I am back now and will get a new card soon but this has put a wrinkle in my smooth plan. So, since you guys seem to know pretty much everything I was wondering if there was a reseller I should goto or something like that where I can order my parts (some happ buttons and joysticks, and maybe an ipac4 and some ultrastick 360s and maybe even a button that says credit on it or something) that will get it to me in about a week (I live in Ottawa Canada) without costing me an arm and a leg.

Divemaster127 carries Ultimarc and Happ Controls' inventories.  He'll hook you up without any problems.   :applaud:

What's wrong with going direct to Ultimarc? Delivery is lightning quick this side of the pond and surely it wouldn't take more than a few days to the big continent.

FWIW, I live in Toronto and have always ordered direct from Andy in the UK -- those shipments are the fastest of all that I make to arrive, with the exception of my DigiKey orders (which are always on my doorstep in less than 24 hours).

The only real issue is if you want items that Ultimarc doesn't stock -- for Happ stuff, I go to the Playdium Store (http://www.playdiumstore.com), which is a local pickup for me. Ignore the online catalog -- if you want Happ stuff, get the part # and emails Dave directly.

If, however, I was looking to put a bunch of items from Ultimarc and Happ in a single order, I would probably go with divemaster.

And, as always, I recommend that folks in the Ottawa region also check out MAACA (http://www.maaca.org) and CGCC (http://www.cgcc.ca/forum/viewforum.php?f=9).

I usually have my stuff in the states from Ultimarc the very next day (once it has shipped). Fastest of anyone I've dealt with.

When I ordered my iPac from Andy, the goddam thing went backwards in time to get to me. The tracking website said that it got on the plane in England at 11pm and somehow I the thing was in California by 3am. I had it the next day. I don't know who, what, why or how... but I ain't asking any questions. Either the plane flew 1200 mph or Andy has mastered time travel and if so, that really shows his dedication to the arcade parts scene by not sharing it with the rest of the world so he can send us our parts faster. Maybe it will be a new feature on the next u360 stick?  ;D

Ok, new question. I am most likely going to buy at least 1 ultrastick 360. So my question is this, how many of them do i need. How many multilayer 4 or 2 way or analog stick games are there. Is it worth buying 2 or more or can I get away with 1 and make the other 3 players use an 8 way?

I've got a question.

Is there a good alternative to the Sanwa JLF sticks? My cabs not gonna be for tournament purposes or anything. I just want something that looks good and works well.

I ask because its so frigging ridiculous finding sanwa parts right now thanks to everyone getting bitten by the SFIV bug.

hint hint. The sanwa jlw is also known as the j-stick from ultimarc. They are damn near identical, and they are a 4/8 way.

Will JLF shafts fit in a J-stick?

yeah I figured that out last night checking out Ultimarcs website.

Dont say it too loud, all the SFIV stick people will hear you and that'll be another supplier dead.

Well, what's the answer to that?  I don't know, I've never tried it.
