Post by: Firebat138 on April 25, 2009, 02:54:37 pm
Can someone direct me to a GOOD power strip...  I am looking to do the following...

First I want an authentic flip switch on the top...  How would one accomplish this...

Also...  I guess I want the marquee light, speakers, subs...if powered....and everything else to come one when  i boot the computer...etc...  ideas...?

Thanx

Have you tried the Bits Limited strip?

I have it and it works great.

I cut off the end of my bitsmart and wired it to a switch and a receptacle.

Since you aren't doing a receptacle then all you need to do is rewire the switch that's built into the power strip. Take it apart and look at how it's wired. Get some similarly gauged wire and extend the existing wire to where ever you want your switch to be.

Great....So after I do that, I would plug my computer into the MAIN and everything else into the other outlets which get turned on when the computer boots....  Will the computer turn ON when I switch the power strip on....Do I have to do anything to the computer to make it do that...I forgot...thanx

The computer wont turn on unless you press the power button on the PC....What I did was mount a regular pushbutton to my cab and had it wired to the on/off switch on my PC...All I do is walk up, hit the switch, everything turns on and when I finish, hit the button again, and the cab turns off...

I use this which you can pick up locally at sears for $19.99... When you turn on the PC, the monitor, and the marquee lights up.

"I purchased this product for use in my MAME arcade cabinet. I wanted to be able to turn everything on and off with a single button, and thanks to this device, now I can. I press an arcade button on top of the cabinet that is wired as the PC power button, the computer boots up and this wonderful device powers up my speakers, monitor, and marquee lights. When i shut the PC down, everything else turns back off. It works great, I couldn't be happier with it. and at $20, it is a great value. I highly recommend it to anyone building their own arcade gaming system."

If your computer has a setting to turn on after a power failure then as soon as power comes into the strip it will boot and everything else will turn on as well.

It's located in the bios under power settings and it's something like "turn on after power failure".
