Title: How Do I Remove Coin Door Box?
Post by: markrvp on April 24, 2009, 02:53:37 pm
I have an over/under coin door on an Atari Cab.  In the bottom half of the coin door inside the cab is a metal box used to hold the coin collection box.  My question is how do I get that metal box off so I can remove the coin door from the cabinet?

I could be wrong....but looking at the first photo....It looks liek there are rivets that are holding it to the coin door....

I dont know what all you plan on doing with it...but if I wanted to remove the box...I would use a drill bit to drill through the rivets...

you can drill through the rivets or if possible lean it on its back and try to knock out the rivets with a hammer and punch

you don't need to remove that box to take the coin door out of the cabinet...if you take all of the screws out that hold those silver tabs in place, the entire assembly should lift out

looks like my Pengo cab, just take the screws out from inside the coin door area and the box drops out. it was easier for me to just take the whole coin door out first.

As soon as I took out the screws and the silver tabs, the door and box pretty much fell out. You can see the lip carrying some of the weight of the box in the first photo.

You have to think, the coin door had to go in somehow, it also has to be repairable or replaceable in some fashion. So permanently riveting a door in place by sandwiching the door, wood panel and coin box probably isn't conducive to replacement and repair.
