Title: IPac 4 and mouse buttons question
Post by: Aabra on April 24, 2009, 12:14:55 am
I'm contemplating building my first cab.  I want it to be a good one though so what I want is:

4 joysticks, 36 buttons (some for pinball etc), and a U-trak (usb connected) trackball.

An Ipac 4 should be able to support 4 joysticks and 40 buttons right so I'm ok?

My main question is weather or not I can program any of those buttons to be MOUSE buttons.  I'd like to be able to use the U-Trak as a mouse to browse windows etc but if I can't click then it's pretty pointless.  Is this possible?

i dont think the ipac will do that.  i wanted a utrak and mouse buttons on my panel, so i bought the utrak without the optional isb onterface(since it doesnt support mouse buttons)  and the bought an optiwiz from groovygamegear.  they are very cost effective, i had no problems getting my utrak to work with it, and best of all, it supports up to 3 mouse buttons.

its a shame that utrak usb interface doesnt support mouse buttons..if it did, i wouldnt have had to look elsewhere.

I have a similiar setup.

I use an IPAC4 for the joysticks & buttons.  The provided usb interfaces for a spintrak and u-trak and a U-HID Nano for an analog flight stick, mouse buttons, etc.

The UHID Nano is much more flexible than the specific utrak or spintrak versions.  Perhaps you could just use one of those or the larger UHID.

Thanks a lot for the help guys.  It looks like it won't be a major issue.  :)
