I'm pretty hazy on this but I remeber a game I'm thinking late 80's. It was a space combat game, you where in a fighter of some type. And forgive me, I may have asked htis already here in the last 2-3 years (im old, my memory is not waht it used to be).
You sat in it, but I'm pretty sure it wasnt enclosed. The seat/monitor/controls where on a half moon, so when you flew down the seat/monitor rolled back on the moon so you where pointing down slightly, when you flew up it rolled forward on it so you where actually pointin up slightly. I do not remebr if it had side to side movement, but I do not think so. I have looked on KLOV but cant seem to find it. I also seem to rember you had some refueling thing where you flew throuhg rings (but this may be another game, Im not sure).

No this game did not rotate, the platform was just a couple feet wide and in a U shape. Basicly it got all its movement from just rolling you back or forward on the U so oyu where slightly pointing up or down to simulate flying up or down.
It is possible there was a different version of this game then the one pictured. but the one pictured is not it.

there is this version too, otherwise im tapped:

No I distinctly remember the C shaped base, here is a VERY crude image of what I'm talking about. I did watch the game play footage of Galaxy Force II (subroc3d and Buck rogers like). It is similar and possibly the game on another style of base. But I remember it being a bit cleaner, less blocky looking (but again, my memory isn't as good as I would like to think it is.

Late 80's and not blocky looking? I'd say that was your memory filtering the graphics.

This is much closer, but its not it, I know it wasn't an After burner as it was in space. I almost think it had vector graphics (hence the clean look I'm remembering or imagining). That machine is basically the same idea, but I'm pretty sure (again not 100% sure) the actual cockpit area moved maybe 1-2 feet forward to go up the ramp. So basically the machine when in the 'end/start" postion had about 1-2 feet of ramp behind and in front of it. It actually moved up the ramp (front or back depending on pitch). I'm pretty sure the machine was 6-7 feet long, and 3 feet wide about. I remember it as it was so Strange at the time, and I never seen it again ever (and I was a bit of an arcade person, so hit alot in those days in major cities. I suck at using the KLOV search engine or i would be doing more looking.

I believe the game you're thinking of was called Rolling Star Fire.
