I know of the "hatred" for Mahjong and other 'adult' games in MAME, so save your bandwidth and keyboard wear for flaming me here and now, Thanks In Advance.
I have designed a rather nice set of cabinets, with swappable control panels, and I need a few more control panels to make my cabinets complete, namely those for some of the [BET] games like Mahjong, Hanafuda and some of the other off-the-wall or unique types.
I keep reading about them, tho never seen a good enough pic (or concept design) of the control panel(s) to actually tackle it without screwing it up.
Anyone have a clear pic of these adult card/tile game control panels that they are willing to share with those of us who actually LIKE and ENJOY playing them? I have searched for over two years without any luck, so far.
I am willing to share my cabinet designs if anyone is interested, tho I pre-warn that they are nothing spectacular that hasn't already been done a million times before.
I would like to see an archive of control panel pics that you can actually see and try to copy without eyestrain OR taking three days to download a multi-meg+ .TIF image or .PDF that only contains a grainy scan of a polaroid of a cabinet from twelve feet away (yes, this has happened to me too darn many times to count).
I would like to see a site full of LINE ART (Paint or other app creation to .PNG or .GIF from a .BMP) of Control Panels from as many arcade games as MAME supports, with a possibility that a front end app would indicate what kind of panel it uses.
Is this too much to ask?
I hope not.

Did you see the Mahjong panel that was with all those other swappable panels for the Sega (i think) cabinet? It was a rather small pic, but i think you could make out everything on the panel.

Everything except for the labels on the buttons, which was kind of important. Unless we're talking about different images.

It's what i'm planning for my homebrew frontend.
cab will have 3 differents CP, and the frontend will display for each game a pic of wich CP to use and the
button/joystick/etc setting used for this game.

I was looking for the same information while back. (http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/index.php?board=1;action=display;threadid=8271) There are a couple pictures of some mahjong panels. You can make out some of the button labels.

Um, no offense, but I hafta dload over 13meg to find out that I can't read it?
I found the standard Mahjong, now I need the betting one, at LEAST the labels, the tile selectors are duck, and the N button is the one that I have to get an extra tough button for, as that is the most used button in these games.
Now for the Hanafuda panel...

I think that that link I provided was exactly what you asked for.
Do you mean by not being able to read it, that you were not able to read the labels? or the zip file?

If yer talkin bout Smitty's page, the zips were dead links, and was about 31 meg to find a couple panels.
If you mean the other links direct to pics, yes, some of them gave me the standard five buttons under the right-hand side of the A to N buttons...as I have notes to most of the Japanese symbols.
The ones I need to find now are the betting button labels, as some of the pics had a glare in that area that had 'em, and the ones to the bottom left.
Oh, and the Hanafuda panel pics were too small to read.
Sorries, but I don't have a mega-huge TFT monitor, just a plain ol CRT 800x600.

Okay, here is what I've found so far for the Mahjong regular/bet panel:
[A][C][D][E][F][G][H][J][K][L][M] [N]
[?][1][?] - [?][?][?][?] - [?][k][p][c][r] [z]
1 = Player One
k = Kan
p = Pon
c = Chi
r = Ri-Chi (Reach)
z = Ron

On the second line, the first cluster of three, I can BARELY make out "Player 1" in the center, anyone know the other two? The next cluster of four I am unable to make out at all, same with the first one in the next cluster of five, the last four and the one under the [N] were readable to me.
MAME adds these to any [BET] type Mahjong games:
BIG, LAST, TAKE, FLIP, BET, SMALL, DOUBLE
This makes Seven that are unaccounted for, and I suspect that these are what they are...now, can anyone read the lables on the pic above, and I'll post a READABLE line art pic for anyone else who needs it in the future.

The button right of the start button is labeled 'betto' and is the bet button I assume. The right two bet buttons seem to be labled 'hisoke' and 'sumomu'.
