Title: Random question
Post by: Gonzo22 on April 20, 2009, 09:35:11 pm
Hope this is the right forum for this, sorry if it isnt.

Does anyone know if a full size donkey kong will fit in the back of a ford explorer? I have a 2000, and I am going to check according to jakobuds plans, but was just wondering if anyone knew off hand.

Thanks for any response.

i don't know for sure, but if i had to guess, i'd say yes, it will fit.  i hauled a few cabinets in the back of my friend's 96 jeep grand cherokee, which i believe has a smaller cargo area than the explorer, including a 25" dynamo cabinet. i dont think a DK cabinet is anywhere near as big as the dynamo

here is the cabinet in question:

Another vote for yes.

A guy I know picked up a Super Pac-cab from me in a little hatchback and said he had also hauled DK's in it.  It was a lot smaller than an Explorer.

Yes - it will fit (with the back seats down obviously) but you will have to lay it on its side.

I'm going to say yes.  A Donkey Kong fits in my MDX no problem (with the seats down, obviously).

put the back seats down...and buy some rope...and tie down the trunk door with a heavy blanket underneath....the cab should be at least 5 feet....( top of my head measurement)...

Wow thanks for all the answers guys, If all goes well I should be picking one up this friday night.
I try and post some pics of the (hopefully, small ) restoration.
Looks like my scratch built one will be on hold for awhile....

sorry, i gave that cabinet to a friend when i moved last summer..i just didn't think i'd have the room for it.  my wife still thinks we don't have the room for it, but i'm trying to convince her otherwise.  I don't think he has done anything with the cabinet since i took it over there, but i don't really want to just ask for it back.

Well, the guy I bought the game from had a schedule opening, and I went and picked it up tonight insead of friday and Im now the owner of my first arcade game. It was a donkey kong converted to a vs. system and back to a donkey kong. The monitor looks great, and the controls are solid. I think most of it is original from when it was made so I have a bit of a decision to make as whether or not to really restore some minor blemishes, or to leave them as is and keep it original..

Once I get started I'll post a topic in restorations.

Oh, and it fit in my explorer, thanks for all the answers!
