Did you check the jumper on the hard drive? Was it a master - slave setup?

Check your BIOS for halt on errors. If it had set that you had a drive and now its gone. It will halt. Also, did you remove the floppy to? Check that as well.

The hard drive is actually a CF to SATA adapter so I didn't see a jumper on it, also the bios doesn't have no halt on errors.  I am goign to try and update the bios, maybee a newer one has that option, intel atom 230

Some mobos look for certain SATA drives to be connected and if they aren't, it will halt. Check to see if that's the case.

Check your BIOS and see if it lets you play around with boot order or priority and make your CF/ATA your first drive if you can.

yep boba has it, its the boot order that is the problem most likely. It was set for the dvd to boot first. Reconnect the dvd drive start pc go into bios, lookup boot priority and switch 1st boot device to your hard drive. Exit and save your settings, and power down. You can safely remove the dvd again, and reboot. It should boot to windows or whatever OS your using. If it doesn not, then there are bigger issues at hand.

Thanks for the info guys!, I did a combo of things and it is working, I changed the boot priority and I turned of the IDE interface throug hte bios,  I wish I had read these posts before I did that cause I would have tried just changing the boot order
