just as the subject says............the mother fudger wont stop meowing. i also believe that he is soon going to attempt to assasinate me for the 3rd time soon. His first attempt was trying to poison me with he rancid smell of his urine by my bed, his second attempt was trying to smother me in my sleep (he kept trying to lay on my face while i was trying to sleep. The cat is currently leaving me death threats by leaving dead animals at my door step. Pray for me all you reading this

I've yet to find a 9/11 joke that is funny. I'm more than a bit pissed that Stephen King reduced himself to adding it to the bloated joke of a story the Dark Tower turned out to be. I'm currently trying to force myself to finish book 7. Damn I feel sorry for people who waited their whole adult lives for the last books of the series.
Anyways... I saw the beginning of the flameout, but then had to go up North for a few hours. Missed the glorious part.

My avatar probably proves I'm quite a fan of the Dark Tower. Though the last three books are nothing compared to the first four, they are still worth reading. You've got this far so finish it. It helps to listen to the audiobooks, which are actually recommended by King. The late Frank Muller does 1-4 and George Guidall does 5-8, and they both do a fantastic job.

I read the first five, and have done 6-7 via audio book. It is nice to use the audio book during my boring drives to surveys. Makes the 2 hour drive each way go by much faster.

And yes, book 6 was possibly the worst King book that I have read. I was a bit put off by some of the weird stuff in book 2-3 and 5, but this just got ridiculous. It is quite obvious he has struggled to come up with a way to finish the series. I would rather him admit defeat than 'dial it in' the way it has been so far. I have heard enough about this 7th book that I am not holding my breath for a grand finale. Actually, I generally know how it ends already.

Book 3, "The Waste Lands", is when they board Blaine the Mono. The rest of that segment plays out in book 4.

Whenever I have the urge to get another cat(pet) I have to remind myself of the 4am wakeup calls, the medical bills that were always over $200, the ruined furniture, the "stains" and how horrible that last trip to the vet was.

I liked the 1st one better I think. I think I was mainly pissed that Roland was f'ed up right off the bat, and stayed that way the whole time. It was a good book, but 1 and 3 were better.

I was a huge fan and waited with eager anticipation of each new book, but I quit when he released that dog plop of a book, Wolves of the Calla. I figured he had a bad editor (Like Robert Jordan with his WoT books, his wife should've stayed away.) and tried to read through book six. Jesus, it was such unbelievable crap that I never could bring myself to finish it just to see what book seven is like. Even if I gave him the benefit of the doubt those books pretty much ruined the rest of the series.
It seems that King pretty much jumped the shark with his writing in '99.

"So & so just got their series 7......never even made a trade, the girl upfront was pregnant........her husband must be devastated, whats his name was in a wheelchair.........he didnt make it out, that young kid from the farm was sending his parents money.....they were so proud of him, what about those two brothers in accounting.......their poor mother".
& thats just the single people who didnt lose family or actually see it first hand

I didn't work there but a VERY close friend did who was on vacation at the time, thats how I know what at least one person thinks.
Damn, back to the book discussion......I just wanted to vent on that topic for a minute.

It was already kinda related through The Talisman, but in Black House, it was really tied in quite a bit....by Peter Straub. He was a fan and wanted to integrate the universe more into mid-world than it already was.
I love the crossovers. When I'm reading a book and suddenly there's a connection to another, Dark Tower or otherwise, I love it.
I'm a total fanboy. I admit it. I even have the same birthday as King.

I (personally) would not want to be related to anyone with that ability to mock all those who have died in that atrocity. I do not believe in the two accounts story. It doesn't make sense.

In college I was proctoring a computer lab when the Secret Service swooped in and sealed off the whole building. Someone had sent graphically threatening emails to the President. The guy's story was that he had gone to the bathroom and someone must have done it from his login while he was out of the room. It was pretty scary how hard and fast they came in on that building and came straight into that specific room and locked it down.

A ) don't believe you
or
B ) It really was your brother and you should know better than to allow people access to your account. While it might be annoying for you to get banned because of someone else, your carelessness with your account has caused an annoyance for numerous others.

i hear you man, but like i said my lesson learned is not to let firefox remmember my password for sites or to log me in automatically. the ban is fair, i dont object to it, but if it was i that really did it i would keep my mouth shut and not mention it and just act like im a new member here. Just some useless info for those curious about my user name, james jones was my boss from my last job, dude was funny as hell and one of the coolest people i ever worked with. In fact he got a stripper on his birthday to preform for him and the other managers in his office at the grocery store i use to work at. he was known to do off the wall stuff.

Don't know, they started vetting people and sending them out of the building. I was sent out pretty fast since I was an employee and had a demonstrable audit trail as to which machine I was on when the emails were sent. I know they did ID who it was and he was subject to discipline from the school but not what the school did nor if he ever faced any criminal charges. The speed with which it happened, though, definitely meant whoever was dispatched was local. Being right in the middle of Boston makes that more plausible, I guess.

It seems that King pretty much jumped the shark with his writing in '99.
The main thing I am getting out of book 6 and 7 is that King is well aware of this fact. He is basically saying through his writing: "I'm lucky to be alive, and all you ---punks--- can talk about is that damn dark Tower series?? Fine I'll finish it, but it won't be anything special." The books he has written are without a doubt, completely different from what he would have written if that accident didn't happen.
The whole Walter scene seemed like a summary of the failure of the series to live up to the hype. I am enjoying this book more and more having realized what King is trying to say.
P.S. the breakers are pretty cool. I like what they turned out to be. Nice to know King also freely admits the first thing he would do with a Star Trek holo-deck. ;)

I quit reading the Dark Tower during or after book 4, Wizard and Glass. I honestly can't remember if I finished the book. I just couldn't get through all of the Susan Delgado stuff...
My wife and brother read them all they claim book 5 was better, but I just completely lost interest.
They both agree that books 6 and 7 sucked.

Finished the 7th book last week. The Crimson King and Mordred were both huge letdowns. The ending wasn't great, and I am still working on digesting it properly.
There is one thing though that still irritates the ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- out of me though. In the keyworld, time only moves one way. At any time in the other worlds, be it other earth's or midworld, the time is always the same in the keyworld. King hounds this fact over and over and over... when it later serves his plot.
How then, did Susannah go to 1999, and then Roland/Eddie go to the 70's? Nevermind the fact that many people debate the validity of the overall ending based on this fact.
