Its been asked before and I have spent the last hour searching the forum. I think one problem is that because mame has changed its lightgun handling so much recently no one knows what works anymore.
Problem- I cannot get Lethal enforcers 1 or 2 to offscreen reload with the topguns (topguns2). Does anyone have this working? If so could I ask to see your mame.ini settings?
I have tried enabling offscreen reload in the game, ini file and no luck. I have tweaked the mame.ini file and no change. The bug for lethal enforcers 2 has been fixed in 127 so its not that. It sort of works in area51- the only other game I've tried - but not always
Setup is Mame 129u5 custom compiled no nags and mkchampls hiscore.diff, 2 Topgun2 running the latest EMS driver (tracks perfectly) on an Arcade 26" monitor run by soft15khz. The led bars are mounted top and bottom to reduce shooting distance. All light sources have been checked and fixed. The guns work fine except for this

I have exactly the same problem (running MAME 106). I don't think its got anything to do with the offscreen reload flag... because Iv'e tried it both ways. Other games that require offscreen reload work correctly (literally shooting offscreen reloads, or pressing a dedicated reload button), but no matter what I do, I can't get lethal enforcers to work.

Interesting. Just tried Mame105 with the mouse and the offscreen reload works but as you say not with the guns. However the lightgun code changed with 116 I think

It sounds to me like the actual game has an emulation fault.

I don't think its an emulation fault. Reload works for both games with a mouse in Mame129- just click at the bottom of the screen. AS soon as I go to light guns then it stops working
