Can I use 50%tin 50%lead to soder with?

I would think so... most stuff is 60/40 I *think* 50/50 would have an easier/lower melting point. But I might be dyslexic on that.

Make sure you have some rosin core stuff. Never use acid based flux on electronics....

I was using Blu Glass flux, well I already screwed up lol. good thing I bought 2 pads to practice on. I need a different tip for the soldering iron, It was too big.

Edit* I think I will put hot glue over the connections close by so when I solder I don't accidentally connect two (which is what I was previously doing, cause two buttons to be pressed at once).

I almost died while soldering the other day... I was using seious old flux and I almost passed out! I think it was lead based... It wasn't a good idea in hindsight...
So USE A FAN ON YOUR WORKSPACE! Those fumes are funky...

That sounds like a real good idea, but I would think the soldering iron would tear that glue up so quick. I have a HUGE soldering project coming up and I'm worried about bridging points by accident that are too close together. So if you try this hot glue thing, please let me know how it works out. :)

Will do Rahzel, I plan on doing some soldering soon.
