I'm probably being dense, but I've read a few of the how-to and tutorial posts.. and I still can't figure out an easy way to create gameslists of only games I actually have roms for. Its a bit annoying to scroll through 8k MAME games that I mostly don't have, but to update a custom list by hand every time I want to add a couple also doesn't seem like a good option. Sorry if this is a FAQ, but I really did try to find an answer. Saw some pointers to romdir2xml but couldn't get it to do what I wanted either.

open mala then right click mouse to open options
click on mame config tab
then basic tab
you will see rom path and to the right is options click on options
now you can choose what games to search for like only games with rom found
only working games etc
click ok and then refresh gamelist

Yeah I knew I must be missing some way to do this.. Thanks so much! :applaud:

might I also shamelessly plug ROMLister for doing that as well.

RL can also help you discover new games that work on your machine, based on the # of buttons you have, screen orientation, etc etc.
Just released a new version yesterday, so I'm plug happy.

Nop is there a way in romlister that it will only list the games you have because I cant seem to find where you can point it to your rom directory
EDIT: never mind, I just downloaded your new version and see it has been implemented :applaud: :applaud:

ah, and I should point out that there was a bug fix in romlister recently that involved the rom scanning tool.
A few ROMs could be skipped during the scan. It's pretty rare (the rom name itself had to end in I, Z, or P) but could have an impact on your list.
Fixed in the latest one on the site.
