...because I bought it with it 'working when I removed it from the cabinet - which was blah blah blah months ago so it's comes as untested!' - or at least that was what I was told!
Anyway, as I haven't currently got a jamma cabinet I can only test this through my supergun - and as I haven't got any experience with J-Pacs or any documentation I don't know whether I'm doing something wrong or whether I'm just wasting my time. One thing that concerns me is that the 2 or 3 of the Jamma connectors on the J-Pac look like they have slightly melted at some point - and this was before I plugged it in - this doesn't exactly fill me with confidence and if it's a sign of the J-Pac possibly dying then I will be complaining.
So far, the supergun kicks in because it has something connected but other than that - black screen. I haven't got an ArcadeVGA and I haven't installed Soft 15HZ and I also know this J-Pac is the earlier one and not the newer one...
No LEDs are currently lit... how can I test this... please help people!

My stupidity - didn't connect PS/2 or USB - so no power...
Here's an update... Right, I now have LEDs! :D
I still don't have a picture and the Sync OK LED is not lit - I'm assuming there is still something wrong with the video/connection. I'm using my supergun through a standard scart connection on a TV...

Okay... I have it now showing the boot screens BADLY... I have a juddery duel screen picture and once Windows boots the picture disappears... from what I have read this doesn't sound abnormal. I have set the jumpers to 15 and 31... is there anything else I can do to test this using my Scart TV Supergun?

what resolution are you running?
running a JPAC through a super gun seems...... weird. there are better easier ways to run a PC to a TV

No... I agree with you Malenko - IT IS a stupid idea! But its the only way I can test my J-Pac until my Jamma cab eventually gets here from Japan. I think I've concluded that it is working okay - it seems to be doing everything it should be.

sounds like it is. its blocking bad resolution signals from going out , but its best to just wait for the JAMMA cab to arrive. You do know you need either soft15 or an arcade VGA to output from the PC to the cab right?

Sure do... I think it will be Soft15khz for me... I will be spending a lot of money on other bits and pieces from Ultimarc in a couple of months time so need to economise! ;)

That bad boot picture could be a missing video ground- Pin 14 on the jamma plug component side. I had exactly this on boot and Joey from Jomac picked it. Check pin 14 with a meter to ground. Mine was entirely missing and I just jumpered it from the main earth (pins 1 +2)
I bought a cheap Jamma game of ebay for a testing unit. Use it all the time now
