Title: Fried/Defective Happ microswitch?

I'm using a Happ Competition joystick to create a custom joystick for my Xbox. I had everything wired up, and the stick itself seemed to be working briefly, then, suddenly, it stopped registering.

I thought maybe it was a wiring issue, but when I connected any of the four wires from the stick to one of my buttons, it registered as a press in that direction.

Would this seem to indicate faulty/defective microswitches on the joystick?That would seem like the easiest explanation, though it seems really odd that all four would stop working simultaneously.

Has anyone encountered this before and have a different possibility?

Do you have the grounds for the stick switches looped? Sounds like you lost ground/continuity for the stick.

You called it. I had the grounds daisychained for the stick and most of the buttons. One of the connections in my quick-connector wasn't making good contact. So, it looked like it was wired properly, but it needed a little more crimping.

Glad it was an easy fix. After my first panel, I started installing a ground lug and running everything to one spot instead of chaining it. Its a little more wire, but will make trouble shooting easier and eliminates the possibility of one bad crimp shutting all the controls down.
