Title: Long shot - Need help from someone with a v1.6 Xbox Mobo
Post by: ken_cinder on April 11, 2009, 12:22:27 pm
Have a broken 1.6 motherboard, it's missing a capacitor at location "C7F1". Bottom left area of motherboard.

Can someone please tell me the value of this cap?

If you're not sure what version you have, but are ok with opening yours, a 1.6 motherboard has an "Xcaliber" video encoder chip (Top near middle-right) and Samsung RAM chips.

you may have luck pullng one off a dead mobo as there only like $10.00 shipped or less these days for a broken one  and most of these electronics dealers want close to that just for shipping one cap lol.

heck somebody may even send you free one becuase they have a stack to get rid of.

I tossed a few a couple months back but will check to see if I have a box of parts boards around in the garage still or not.

At the current price of a used Xbox, it might just be easier to buy a new used one.  They go for $39.99 at EB I think. o.O

I own 3 v1.0s, I've repaired dozens of boards, I just don't have another 1.6 on hand right now, thanks though.
Hundreds of caps in my possession, so a non issue there.
