Title: Opinions on this for a bezel...
Post by: slapaham on April 09, 2009, 05:27:57 am
I want a plain bezel which will hide my monitor from view but show the picture through. Also, I have a LCD Topgun and need something that will hide the LED strips but still be able to allow the signal to work through...

I found this, but as I am asking for something quite particular they don't want the responsibility of recommending (or not) it -

I know it's plexiglass (and that isn't as good as tinted, hardened glass) but I don't want to spend much and plexi has benefits in my instance.

Any feedback would be gratefully received - I know there is a chance it won't be suitable but if enough people say it is, at least, likely to work, then I will be happy to give it a go!

It looks like it will be a  little too dark from the picture IMO.

If you want to use acrylic you could use some 5mm clear and then get some tinting film from a car window tinting company as they will have a wide range of different tints.

I would go for the 5mm as you suggested as it will flex less than the 3mm.

Plasticonline are pretty good though, I get all my acrylic and polycarb from them.

I've got that exact same 5mm dark tint for my machine (still unfinished) but from tests it looks great.  You do have to have brightness quite high on your screen though.

Cheers MarkC - I followed the advice of the representative I talked to and she suggested purchasing a sample pack - its only £2 delivered and I thought at least that would give me something to test it with! Also, it says if you purchase anything after receiving the sample pack they will refund the £2 - not bad!

It'll be interesting to see if the Topgun works through it!

Thanks again people!
