I'm running XP 64 bit, and having an issue. I get the error "Required system files are not present - please download...." (shortened, im unable to get the full msg from the pc at the moment)
I've followed everything here
http://www.mameworld.info/ubbthreads/sho...part=1&vc=1
Ive downloaded the system files and ran the .bat file, as well as ignored it and copied the files manually and went in with cmd prompt and used regsvr32 for each of them.
My log shows
paintx.dll
and
mscomm32.ocx
missing from system32 folder, however they're both there.
I would greatly appreciate any advice.
Thank you

oops, I thought I posted that one as well. During my desperate searching, I came accross that one as well. The log shows the files im missing, but They're all in the right place.
I think the other thread I followed, it was you that posted the link above I followed ;D
Idhigh hopes for the steps in that one, but no luck. I was really set on Mamewah, but unfortunately I may have to start trying to figure out mala. :(

if you manually moved the files over, then try manually registering them from a command prompt inside the syswow64 directory.
I think that was the final step I had to do in order to get it to work.
I know me, Frizzle, and Headkaze at least have it working in XP64, we should be able to get yours going as well.
Edit: Just reviewed my old PM's, the final step I had to do was manually move all the files that mamewah log was saying it was missing into the c:\windows\syswow64 directory, and then manually register them using regsvr32 from a command prompt inside the syswow64 directory. Hope that helps.

I moved all files to system32, and syswow64, and manually registered them all just to be safe. Log still says the same two file missing. (paintx, and something else. Ill check once I get back home.)
I think when I get home, Ill delete everything, redownload and start over from step 1. (unless someone's able to come up with some more things for me to try first).
I appreciate the help, Its comforting to know someone has it working, and im not wasting too much time ;D. I wonder if I'm downloading the wrong version or something? I'm going to
http://mamewah.mameworld.info/downloads.htm and downloading the first two zip files, the system files and the mamewah files.

I have a feeling the copy of XP I was using has some faults, plus it takes forever to start up, so im going to reformat with a good copy and try again. will post results tonight.

Oh yeah, big difference the OS I installed originally was borked.
It launches now, but I get a black flicker for 5-10 seconds then it closes out. Going to update windows and drivers and see if theres a difference
